StarBrite left no stone unturned, hunted talents in all the corners of Zimbabwe. We conducted road shows in cities such as Bulawayo, Mutoko and Masvingo & Marondera, just to mention a few. We officially came to an end of preliminaries on the 7th of October with auditions for Harare. Being the last on the roadshow map didn’t make Harare the least but the reverse is true. The punctuality of the contestants was just so impressive; almost everyone was there when the crew arrived and also contestants were anxious be discovered.
All the auditions in this region will always be memorable in the history of StarBrite. We witnessed amazing talent, well polished acts and beyond expectations. Harare however had a little extra to give, for instance, Zim-dancehall was the most popular genre, we also had variety in the form of comedy, beat boxing, dancing, and of special mention was magic which left everyone speechless.
The competition was stiff for the contestants and not easy for the judges to select the finalists. As the rule of Competition, some have to win and some have to lose, at this stage, six contestants could not make it to the second round and twenty contestants had the honour to battle on the stage with various contestants from other provinces in the second round.
Our deepest gratitude goes to our judges for the job well done. Our judges were StarBrite former contestant Kiren Zulu, Brian Masendeke and Wizzy. Special thanks to the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) for offering a venue.
