2015 Starbrite Fashion Show

 

There has been a rise in the growth of the art industry in Zimbabwe and the fashion and design industry is not an exception.

StarBrite show seeks to discover nature and promote talent and the 2015 season was no different as it saw the show expanding its horizons into the fashion industry.

A call was made for the upcoming designers to partner StarBrite at the finals and the response was positive out of the many that expressed interest, four were chosen to be part of the finals. These were Christel Khan of the label 9 lives, Ratchel Mugoni of Tsambatsi, Silence Mapiye his label Tsimba Ethnic Design and Fungai Muzoroza.

The task at hand was to stage a fashion show showcasing their various designs and also to dress up the contestants for their finals performances.

The fashion show was deemed a huge success for various reasons. It brought a different element to the activities in the following ways:

 

 

In an interview with the Executive Director of StarBrite Barney Mpariwa he said, “The idea behind this Fashion Show is to help grow the fashion and design industry in Zimbabwe”, there is need for them to be placed on the limelight and StarBrite has taken that step” he added.    

Commenting on her experience, one of the designers, Fungai Muzoroza expressed her gratitude to StarBrite for the great the opportunity and great experience during the 2015 finals. “It was a lifetime experience I would never have been able to create such a platform on my own and now our  labels are now known and this has increased our market base”, she said.

There was a wide range of garments and ornaments ranging from modern and traditional designs for both ladies and gentlemen.

Due to the huge success this initiative enjoyed at the 2015 finals the fashion show has been permanently slated on the StarBrite finals for the unforeseeable future. All up and coming designers and models are encouraged to register their interests with the show.
