StarBrite has continued its reign as the #1 reality show in total viewers since the series premiered in 2012. Currently in its milestone 9th season, the big question among the many of its followers was “How would the show continue under the current new world order?” Since premiering in 2012, StarBrite has remained the only competition series that gives entertainers of all ages and talents a chance to showcase their unique skills to a nationwide audience, regardless of where they are domiciled. Urban areas, rural areas, jails schools all targeted.
StarBrite is now preparing for season 9 boot camp to be held at Sanganayi creek in Banket from the 9th to the 13th of November 2020.
Due to the current global pandemic strict Covid19 regulations will be followed with participants getting regular temperature tests, sanitization and social distancing maintained at all times. The number of both participants and staff has been significantly reduced in observance of the new world order. Ordinarily a StarBrite Boot Camp would have an average of 175 contestants and about 25 staff members. For season 9 Boot Camp, the total number has been significantly reduced to just about 65 people in total. The process building up to the camp has been nothing but unusual. As opposed to the StarBrite team travelling around the country in search of talents, potential participants were given an opportunity to audition for the show via the social media. This method proved to be a blessing in disguise for the many people who would ordinarily not have been able to attend auditions due to their locality. Virtual platforms afforded anyone and everyone with an opportunity as long as they had access to a phone and the internet. It also helped the organizers quickly cut the number down for the bootcamp. Challenged and given various assignments, the process was as demanding as any audition would be with more than 8 assignments given to the participants. Taking advantage of the social media, the participants were able to send in various assignments without having to travel to Harare for the initial auditions or any other stage of the show before the camp stage. From a total of 3000 participants, only 34 acts remain standing and have qualified for the much talked about boot camp. The boot camp will offer many activities designed to present many challenges under the watchful eye of the StarBrite boot camp Master coach T.B. Maphosa and the StarBrite Executive Director Barney Mpariwa. The activities will include but not limited to: team building, physical and mental stamina, vocal training and aspects on character building. StarBrite has enlisted the service of professional counsellor and many experienced practitioners from the entertainment industry. These include Ba Shupi, Bryan K, Tahle, Patience Lusengo, Huby Blacks and Pamela Dzvinamurungu. More eliminations (with the help of the judges) will take place until a number for the semi- finals is reached.
The StarBrite boot camp is such a huge initiative that requires a lot in resources.
