Millicent Chapwanya was born in Masvingo in 1989. She is married to Zvichanzwii Zhou and she is a mother to her daughter Ciara Zhou. She is a Zimbabwean poet, actress and scriptwriter. Millicent did her primary level at Nemamwa Primary School (1997-2003) that is where she discovered her talent. When she was still in primary her teacher wrote poems and plays for her to perform. She went to Chirichoga High School (2004-2007). Millicent also performed at Great Zimbabwe Monument when the Zimbabwean bird was brought back from Germany.
She got married in 2008 and moved to South Africa and came back in 2013. In 2014 she started pursuing her acting talent and she played a part in the drama Mhunza musha. In 2015 she also acted on drama Kuziva Nhema. Unfortunately these dramas never went far. She joined drama club under Zimbabwe Christian Care which was contracted to PSI to educate people about Circumcision and Malaria through drama plays. In 2016 she acted on a series Chikwambo under Zimdigital and Eleven Pm directed by Edward Chombe.
She went to StarbriteZim audition which was held in Mamutse stadium in Masvingo. It has been long since she had performed poetry. She survived the elimination and went to the next round which was done in Harare. She managed to sail through all the stages until the finals. Her poems basically focuses on issues affecting people in the community such as Rape, Rights, Domestic Violence, Aids, Early child marriage. Some of the poems she did are, I cry for Zimbabwe, Weneedourrights, Rudorwakaendepi, Dotereramwanawehanzvadzi, Handifukurihapwa, Shamiso, Ndongotsviramumwoyo, Gurokuro,Mairos and Dzangukodzero.
With this amazing journey she became number 1 non singing category at Starbrite national competition. In the upcoming future she wants to publish her poetry book since she has written a lot of poems and also wants a poetry video album. Millicent has plans to perfom plays and poems at concerts, schools, community. Her wish is to change people’s life through arts.
