It is a band that was started in 2019. It has 20 students who play Marimba fused with western instruments and vocals. This band has a captain well known as Smosh who leads the team. It plays at any functions like school galas, weddings, business functions or conferences. The band is based much on jazz afro fusion music. It entered the star brite competition in June and that was its first round and they qualified for the boot camp though it was not easy, they sailed till they got to the semifinals.
At the boot camp they were given a task to mix Sungura, hip-hop, traditional song, reggae music and international music and that was their hardest task at StarBrite but everyone regarded the performance the best and that’s when they qualified to the finals in 2020. Churchill Roosevelt Band as given a task to perform the Legend James Chimombe’s songs. As a band that was their best performance because it was not easy to perform the songs like Mundaka ndafa especially in this generation and our generation.
They then qualified again to the grand finals and their team was the only one the special talent category that qualifies for the Grand finale of season 8 2020.
