My name is Cleophas Manyowa aka “Klio”. I was born on the 18th of July 1970 and I grew up in Glen Norah B, Harare. After I finished high school in 1987 I went on to do a Diploma in Education at Belvedere teachers College from 1989 to 1991 and another diploma in Labor Relations (Silveira house) in 1994.
Apart from academics I am a great composer, singer and performer/ arranger. I have no limitations and I know I am on my way to the top despite the fact that it has taken me long to get there. It is a fact however that I am one of the best musicians ever although I am not heralded. Currently I have three albums that I have done awaiting to be unleashed.
My journey with StarBrite was fun and an eye opener to music at a professional level and also working with different people such as Kelly Rusike and Mr. Barney Mpariwa made us feel we were the best and gave us the push give it our all. I made it to the final ten “the first StarBrite” and it was a great experience for me.
With the passion I have for music I am still performing and I have a band called Afrispirit. We have once worked with Christians @ Work and The Turning Point. I love to perform at weddings, graduation ceremonies e t c. I also enjoy impulse performances and I actually move with my backing vocalists, guitar and/ or back tracks.
My greatest achievements have been to reach the StarBrite finals, coming second in the V. Boers competition, performing at the finals of the Chibuku road to fame and pioneering Pakare Paye Arts Centre.
To give back to society, I have donated books to Glen Norah 2 High School, helped orphans at the school from the talent shows I did organize and also paid school fees for two orphaned boys up to “O” level.
I encourage everyone to be original and unique do not compose music from other people’s beats or rhythms. The best contestants are those that sing and perform their own music (own composition).
